Autumn is a lovely time to visit Exmoor. In early September you may still see the wonderful purple heather and the walking is as great as ever. Over the weekend of September 23rd to 25th, Exmoor is hosting a new festival, the South West Outdoor Festival – with hiking, biking, trail running, open water swimming, camping, star gazing and wild food foraging.
October heralds the Red Deer rutting season and strange guttural sounds echo around the moor while those who enjoy star gazing have the Exmoor Dark Sky Festival to look forward to. It runs from 20th October until the 4th November and has over forty events organised including a mobile planetarium, astro-photography session, star gazing walks and talks and even night runs, cycling and swimming. For half term ther is the Webber’s Post Big Adventure on Wednesday 31st October with lost of family activities and games.
