This year is the 150th Anniversary since the publication of Lorna Doone (R D Blackmore’s classic novel set on Exmoor) and there are a series of events being organised throughout 2019.  Here are some of the highlights which may help you plan your visit to Exmoor this year

April 10th Lorna Doone Safari book a place on a special ‘Lorna Doone’ Landrover safari. Pass through the beautiful Doone country, and visit St Mary’s Church in Oare, Badgworthy Water and Robber’s Bridge. Sit back and enjoy the fascinating commentary which brings the book to life. June 22nd The Walking Book Club reads Lorna Doone. Departs at 2pm from outside Number Seven Dulverton, opposite the historic White Horse Inn. June 29th and 30th – Dulverton Summer Festival – Celebrating Lorna Doone! A whole weekend of Lorna Doone celebrations with re-enactment of scenes from the novel by Taunton Garrison around the town. There’ll be lots of live music, children’s activities, magic lantern show, story-telling, as well as shops and stalls from local traders.
