A Fabulous Time Again
We were a party of 9 with 7 assorted dogs and 6 horses so took over all three cottages, the stables and paddocks. We had a fabulous time again. We were lucky with the weather and the riding is great. We have been holidaying in Exford for many years and this is our second stay at Court Farm. We brought more friends with us to stay there and we enjoyed eating and drinking together as there was room to fit us all in of an evening.
Looking forward to a return visit next year. Dave and Michelle are lovely, friendly and helpful. Their fresh eggs are excellent too. Both pubs in Exford are good but we prefer The Crown as it has really nice food, good wine and decent beer.
The Black Venus at Chaccombe is excellent.
Wimbleball lake is a great place to visit for water sports and Pulhams Mill does the best cream tea.
We always take the horses to Saunton sands where we have a great ride over the dunes, along the beach and finish off with a picnic.
Great walking too. September 2019
Beautiful and spacious cottage
Beautiful and spacious cottage (Rowan Cottage). Great facilities and a warm welcome from hosts Dave and Michelle. Wonderful short break with our three small dogs in the heart of Exmoor National Park. Highly recommended. Fabulous village pub ( Exmoor White Horse Inn), and enjoyed beautiful local costal walks in Lynton and Lynmouth. Also visited historic Dunster and Minehead. Loved seeing the Exmoor ponies and Highland cattle in their native homes. Lovely area with lots to see and do! Guests from Uppingham Nov 2019
A very fantastic little find.
The cottage had everything you needed. A short walk to the village with 2 pubs. Dave & Michelle the owners were great very friendly & always there with extra wood for the log burner, looking forward to returning. Ideal for walks. 2 great pubs in the village that serve local cooked food. Guests from Basildon – Dec 2019
Fantastic Place to go with dogs
Fantastic place to go with dogs, plenty of walks in the area, and location is far enough away but not remote.
Tips for other travellers
Crown pub serves good food.
Butchers in Dulverton is excellent.
Tar steps is a lovely walk, up onside of the river and return down the other.
Excellent Stay – Mountain Ash Cottage
The owners of the cottages are great people. The cottages themselves are in great condition. Exford is a lovely village.
Tips for other travellers
Bring your hiking boots and waterproofs as there are lots of great if challenging walks to do in the local area.
Would recommend to others.
Our stay was perfect and we even extended by another 2 day’s! Nothing was too much trouble for David and his wife and they made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We are hoping to visit again later this year as we left so much of beautiful Exmoor undiscovered. Thanks so much, we will see you again soon 🙂
A return visit to this lovely farm, we rented all 3 cottages and brought the family. They all enjoyed it as much as we had on our previous visit. Once again Dave and his family couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. These are great well equipped cottages, perfectly located for exploring Exmoor. Having your own secure garden is perfect for the dogs and all 3 cottages are kitted out to accommodate them also. However if you aren’t travelling with dogs don’t be put off – the cottages are immaculately cleaned and have no “doggy” smell – you honestly wouldn’t no anyone else’s dog had ever been in residence. There are so many walks directly from the farm and Exford with its two lovely pubs is only a few minutes walk along the river footpath. We were blessed with lovely weather so could really enjoy the location with family BBQ’s relaxing in the garden overlooking the river with a cold local cider. We will definitely be back and there is still more of Exmoor to explore.
